Long and sleek is just my first swing at bat with this long skirt trend- which was recently featured in WhoWhatWear’s Trend Report, except their eye is on printed maxis. For the fashion-illiterate:
A maxi skirt is a floor or ankle length informal skirt; formfitting at the top and loose flowing at the bottom, cut to flow over the body. They are usually made out of cotton or polyester and come in a variety of necklines, colors and patterns.
Don’t know that I have the variety in my wardrobe yet to pull one of these gorg pieces off above, but I did give a simple, cotton, stretch “long and sleek” skirt a chance, and I debuted it this weekend with a trendy crop top, check it out:
Little feedback:
1. If you’re going with a stretchy cotton, make sure it’s fitted when you buy, because it will stretch.
2. Make sure it’s also fitted, so when you walk it doesn’t look like a pair of pants from the back and slouchy (too baggy) in the front. woops.
Otherwise, snag a trendy crop top, and let it fly. This is a super comfy trend- a style I wish I wore more often… but it’s just more recently that I’m OK with a little midriff. Next stop: printed maxi!
What do YOU think? Did I wear it well? Do you have maxis? How do you wear them?Â
