A Real Nickelodeon

Moment of clarity this AM when at a reuniting breakfast at El Dorado Diner, I instagram’d a photo of what I’ve always known as a “jukebox.”

I google’d “juke box” before posting obviously to confirm the spelling/whether it was one word or not. Upon clicking through to the wikipedia… I learned that another word for jukebox is “Nickelodeon.”

“A jukebox or nickelodeon is a partially automated music-playing device, usually a coin-operated machine, that will play a patron’s selection from self-contained media. The classic jukebox has buttons with letters and numbers on them that, when entered in combination, are used to play a specific selection.”

I really thought it was a mistake on the page, but then I asked myself… “like the kids channel Nickelodeon?”

Could it be? But how? What sense does that make?
Then I thought… YES…it makes perfect sense. Everything was SO musical and doo-woppy. And how perfect a name for a kids channel?! Ideal way to engage kids and keep them GLUED to the channel.
