This morning on the train, I was interrupted from my book, by a tall gentleman sharing his morning preach; what is normally the “I don’t have $, help me buy some food” shpeal.
To my surprise it was a screen animator just trying to get his work out there. For just $1, I bought his DVD, a bit apprehensive that it may have been some virus that would kill my mac or something, but excited at the chance to catch a glimpse of this guys work! So $1 out of my wallet, $1 to help him and his dream, and snab a taste of what NYC is ALL ABOUT!
Before I began writing this post I did a bit of research and Brooklyn native, Mark Stansberry was written about in the NY Daily News just yesterday! Apparently, he’s sold 44,000 of his DVD’s at $1 each… you do the math.
His main character little miss “Puddin'”, how precious-
On the DVD I bought, she stars in 5 mini series including: “The Fan Club”, I Need a Hero, Far Off Galaxy, Shafted, Depend on You and Just a Ride.
I’m not big into animation, don’t know much about it really- but seems like a lot of HARD work, and that… I admire. The mini series are cute, catchy, and I just love Puddin’.
Keep up the great work and hustle… I’m looking forward to watching him blow up soon! Here’s just one of the family friendly short films, and see more on their Youtube; Screen Arts Animation.
hey….thanks for the nice words…..i really hope you enjoyed the DVD…promoting and selling on the trains has been wonderful for my work; and i love actually meeting people and hearing their encouragement and seeing their faith in their fellow man….many wonderful things have opened up for me and Puddin before and after The Daily News article….including a recent development deal with one of the Big 3 networks (will let it be a surprise )….again, many thanks…!!!
